This print respectfully titled:  "WDVE Rocks" is a visual biography of the iconic WDVE logo that is recognized around the world by every Pittsburgh native. The station has been rocking the great City of Pittsburgh for more than 40 years and remains the highest rated radio station in the Pittsburgh market.

Passionately referred to as "DVE" by the locals, WDVE Radio offers listeners much more than great music, it is home to some of the best on air talent. For years loyal listeners have tuned in to "hear" the voices of the famed DJs such as Jim Krenn, Randy Baumann, Michele Michaels, Sean McDowell, Phil Kirzyc and Jack Maloy.  The music is classic rock-n-roll and the talent is timeless.

With approximately 98 hours of "hands on" drawing time and countless hours of research, this artwork provides a visual biography of all things WDVE.  Custom created in 2011 by local artist Christopher Nix, this print hosts hundreds of smaller images that represent this powerful radio station and the great city it calls home.  

As you look closely at the image you will see the many characters that have been created by our DJs such as Sophie Vader, The Pittsburgh Kings, Bobby Subgum, Baghdad Bob, Stanley P and many, many more. There are countless references to the stations events and happenings such as DVE Rock's Children's, Rock and Roll up Your Sleeve, and the Jim Krenn and Friends Celebrity Roast.  Each print comes with a list of notable images buried inside. Half the fun is trying to find them.

This special rendition of the WDVE logo shows homage to a radio station that never stops rocking, the loyal listeners who tune in from across the globe, and of course, the City of Champions--Pittsburgh, PA.
